WHAT IS CRISIS INTERVENTION TEAM (CIT)?

The Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) program is a community partnership of law enforcement, mental health and addiction professionals, individuals who live with mental illness and/or addiction disorders, their families and other advocates. It also promotes officer safety and the safety of the individual in crisis.

Becoming a Crisis Intervention Team instructor is an exciting opportunity and we are thrilled that you are interested. This role requires a serious commitment of time, energy and creativity. Before applying to become an instructor, we want to make sure that you fully understand what will be necessary for certification as well long term success as a CIT instructor. We are looking to select those individuals with the highest probability of success.

Train the Trainer is a 3-Day course $900/person - invitation only

April 3-5, 2024


CIT Advanced 8-hour course $100/person

This 8-hour course serves as a refresher for law enforcement officers and allows them to refine their skills in advanced scenario role play exercises. This course is for officers with at least one year’s experience as an active CIT officer.

CIT for Call-takers and Dispatchers a 2-Day course $300/person

Scheduled upon department request

This 16-hour course trains 911 operators and dispatchers on how to recognize and respond more effectively to individuals in behavioral health crisis.


CIT Training Block 40-hour course $650/person

The 40-hour comprehensive training emphasizes mental health-related topics, crisis resolution skills and de-escalation training, and access to community-based services. The training fee includes daily meals, material/supplies, etc.

You can be an observer for one day for free of cost.
